to the top of Everest!
We’ve came up with a brand new style member challenge to help keep all our members focused and motivated through-out this winter.
As a group, we’ve set the challenge of trekking 8,594km from Maxx Life Gym to Mount Everest, before taking on the 57,000 step climb to the top.
And we’ll be doing all this without ever leaving Armagh, incase you were thinking otherwise lol.
How It Works
This challenge is simple, but it certainly won’t be easy.
We’ve marked out our trekking path on the map.
Leg 1: Starting from Maxx Life Gym, we trek 80km to Donaghadee.
Trekking includes walking, jogging or running, either on a treadmill or outside.
Everytime someone finishes a trek of any length, they take a photo of the treadmill console or their fitbit and post it into our Facebook group with hashtag #maxx2everest, and also write their name and distance on the whiteboard in the gym.
We then add up everyones distances until we have completed the leg.
If your walk/run is outdoors, you must write your name and distance on the board on the same day.
Leg 2: Leg 2 involves rowing 34.5km from Donaghadee to Portpatrick in Scotland.
Same story, use the rowers and take a photo of the console showing clearly the number of metres that you have rowed. Post it in Facebook group, and write your name on the whiteboard.
We’ll continue this until we complete the 8,594km trek. This will take us around 4-5 months to complete, so November to March.
Once we’ve completed that, its a 57,000 step climb from the foot of Everest to the top.
For this part of the challenge, we’ll use the Stairmasters, and the same will apply, take a photo of the console clearly showing the steps climbed, and write on the board.
It will take us a few weeks combined to climb the 57,000 steps to the top of Everest.

Major
Group Effort
Required
This is a monster group challenge, and it will only work if we get a large number of our members involved.
There is no competitiveness in it. Everyone can contribute as much or as little as they want.
But a good way to approach it, could be to set yourself a target contribution each week, like 10km. If you can stick to that every week through-out the winter months, you should find yourself in a much better place.
